Meaning
Expresses purpose, "intending to ~" or "in order to ~." A formal, written-style expression followed by a volitional action. Both forms 「するべく」 and 「すべく」 are used.
Examples
- 真相を明らかにすべく、調査委員会が設けられた。 In order to uncover the truth, an investigation committee was established.
- 彼は夢を実現するべく、日々努力を重ねている。 He works hard every day in order to realize his dream.
