Meaning
Means "being ~," expressing what befits that position or nature. An archaic, formal, literary expression linking noun to noun, as in 「責任者たる者」 (one who is a person in charge).
Examples
- 紳士たる者、約束は必ず守らねばならない。 A gentleman must always keep his promises.
- 彼は堂々たる態度で、批判に立ち向かった。 He confronted the criticism with a dignified attitude.
