Meaning
Indicates carrying things out in accordance with rules, standards, or traditions as the basis. A stiff expression for conforming to what is laid down, as in 「ルールに則って」 (in accordance with the rules).
Examples
- 試合は国際ルールに則って行われた。 The match was conducted in accordance with international rules.
- 伝統に則って、厳かに式典が執り行われた。 The ceremony was carried out solemnly in accordance with tradition.
